Where Are You Leading Us Jesus?

Central Christian is on a journey from who we were to

who we want and hope to be!

Do you see it?

(more people traveling together in worship)

Do you feel it?

(love for one another and for those who visit us)

(hope for our future as we anticipate calling a minister to lead us forward)

Do you sense it?

(anxiousness as to how this trend will unfold)

(joy in worship and small group experiences)

BUT we ask "Where are you leading us, Jesus?"

It is an honest question, because we don't know for sure.

It is a spiritual question because we all are on a journey further into the depth of our hearts.

It is a missional question as we seek to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

We invite all, from the first time visitor to our long time members to join us on a Lenten Journey as we explore where Jesus is leading us by His example, that God through the Holy Spirit might take us to that next level in our faith journey individually. We encourage every one of us to participate in this journey through:

Participating every week in worship as we explore the pathways Jesus laid out for us (establishing caring community, inclusion and invitation, deepening spirituality, and acting out our faith)
Articulate our personal mission (in a sentence) with the aid of resources provided by our church (daily devotional, aids for naming and claiming our mission, half day mission discovery retreat)
Gathering on Wednesday nights from Feb. 22nd - March 28th, at 5:45 to experience the warmth of a bowl of soup and conversations that lead to building a community of caring, clustering around:
- Experiencing God's Spirit through music and prayer
- Being the hands and feet of Jesus in our community and world
- Studying the scripture to illuminate what Jesus would have us be and do
- Preparing for the second half of life
Sunday after worship journey for children, youth and adults through study, service and social time together (called S to the third power, or "cubed") For adults there are three offerings: book study (Quest), Bible Study, and a new "pick a topic" group, all after Central Cafe at 10:30am.
Enjoying one another's company at every other Friday dinners (More than Fish on Friday!)
February 24th, March 9th and March 23rd.
Participating in special worship services including Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday and Easter services.

We hope and believe that this journey will help illuminate further where Jesus' witness and Word are leading us. Please indicate through email to Church (lebanondoc@sbcglobal.net) or sign up on Sunday morning which of these experiences you would like to join.

Lenten Journey additional information

Souper Wednesdays
Wednesday nights at 5:45pm (February 29- March 28)

We will enjoy the warmth of a bowl of soup, introduced by a time of prayer and singing, followed by conversations that lead to a better understanding of where God, through Jesus’ example, is leading us, clustering around:

Doing mission from our doorsteps to the end of the earth We will discuss and experience what we as Central Christian have done in the way of carrying out Christ’s great commission: “Go into the world….” and why. Then we will look to new ways to be Christ’s hands and feet and recommit to those we continue to value. This conversation will be facilitated by Becky Robinson and others.
Exploring scripture We will study scripture that can help us discover together where Christ is leading us so that we have an understanding and excitement about what it looks like to be Easter people.
Discovering in mid-life what is “beyond half time”. We will talk about what we have valued being and doing in life thus far and begin to imagine how to live those values out in the second part of our life in both ongoing and new ways, asking what’s our second half “game plan”.
